Spring Break 2010 Itinerary

Ok, I'm finally done with this itinerary. After hours and hours of research, here it is, if you're interested:

Friday March 12th

Take STC bus to Hohoe. Check into Taste Lodge (0935 22023).

Saturday March 13th

Head out west to nearby Tsatsudo Falls in the morning near the village of Alavanyo Abeheanse. Be back in Hohoe for lunch. Take afternoon bus to Liati Wote to hike Mount Afadjato and see Tagbo Waterfall. Leave for Hohoe in the evening to spend a second night at Taste Lodge.

Sunday March 14th

Head out to Wli Falls near Wil Agorviefe. Check into Waterfall Lodge (0935 20057 or 00233 289547459 or http://www.ghanacamping.com/eng/Startseite.htm). Head out to nearby Likpe Todome to explore network of caves.

Monday March 15th

Head back to Hohoe, then head south stopping in Fume. From Fume, take taxi to Biakpa. Check into Mt. Paradise Lodge (020 8137086/ 020 8198505 or www.mountainparadise-biakpa.com) which is beside Kulugu River and faces Mount Gemi. Head out to Amedzofe to see Amedzofe Falls and hike Mount Gemi.

Tuesday March 16th

Head out to Logba Tota to swim in Apkonu Waterfall and see some more (smaller) caves. Then travel west to Tafi Atome to see the Monkey Sanctuary. Because the monkeys are best seen after around 4pm, we will rent bikes at Tafi Atome to go to the nearby village of Tafi Abuipe to see the kente-weavers and possibly buy some kente cloth (supposedly very cheap compared to prices here) and then return to Tafi Atome for the monkeys. Then return back to Biakpa to stay a second night at Mount Paradise Lodge.

Wednesday March 17th

Head back to Accra! From Accra, take an STC bus west to Cape Coast. Check into Mighty Victory Hotel (042 30135) or possibly Oasis Beach Resort. If it isn’t closed, see the Cape Coast Castle.

Thursday March 18th

Go to Kakum National Park to do the canopy walk. See Cape Coast Castle if not able to see it the day before.

Then head west to Akwidaa. Check into Green turtle lodge (024 4893566 or http://www.greenturtlelodge.com/). Beach! Turtles on beach nesting!

Friday March 19th

Go to Nzulezo stilt village by taking a canoe through Amansuri Wetland to the village.

Head back east to Akwidaa and Green Turtle Lodge.

Do canoe trip and hiking trails through Cape Three Points Forest Reserve sometime while at Green Turtle Lodge.

Saturday March 20th

Leave Akwidaa for nearby town of Busua.

Check into Busua Beach Resort (031 93307/8/9 or 020 302 or http://www.gbhghana.net/busua). Pools! More beach! Also jet ski if not expensive. Visit the island of Abokwa as well.

Sunday March 21st

Head back to Accra. Will stop somewhere—possibly Anomabu, Mankessim, or Apam. All have Posuban shrines we could see while there and two (not Mankessim) have forts as well.
